Catholic high school students won regional Scholastic Art Awards

RecordLogo-FThirty Catholic high school students won regional Scholastic Art Awards. The winners and their schools are as follows:

  • Twelve St. Xavier High School students won awards. Eli Thompson won a Gold Key, which is the highest distinction, for his photography work.
    Garrett Bunch (photography), Clay Monarch (digital art), Gus Orthober (painting) and Cameron Stallcup (digital art) won silver keys.
  • Eighteen Sacred Heart Academy visual arts students won awards. Cayley Crum and Caroline Scalzo won Gold Keys. Sophie Kaufman and Courtney Smith were Silver Keys winners.

The work of Gold Key winners went on display at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft on Feb. 3. The work of Silver Key winners went on display at the Jefferson County Public Schools’ Gheens Academy on Feb. 4.

All the winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony today, Feb. 16. The competition is for students in grades seven through 12.
