Catholic Charities’ storage space to be renovated by volunteers

Projects with Purpose LLC, a New Orleans-based organization that coordinates and furthers humanitarian initiatives nationwide, will send volunteers from Thortons, Inc., to Catholic Charities of Louisville’s storage facilities to repair, refurbish, reorganize and build new storage space at the location in the Portland neighborhood.

The space being visited is where Catholic Charities houses its donated clothing, food and other necessities for families and individuals it serves.

The work will be done on Nov. 11, and at the same time the storage space is being refurbished, other Thorntons’ volunteers will be framing eight houses and ten sheds that will be shipped to tornado victims in Henryville, Ind. Last March, a strong tornado destroyed nearly 200 homes in the Southern Indiana town, and new houses are still needed in the area.
