Assumption dedicates indoor softball center

Assumption High School hosted an open house and dedication ceremony March 3 for its new indoor softball center at the Assumption Green Sports and Education Complex, 4500 Champions Trace Lane.

The center is close to 5,000 square feet and includes a bullpen, locker room, batting cages, dugout and office space.

Assumption’s softball coach Lisa Pinkston said in a news release that she’s excited and is looking forward to being able to practice regardless of the weather or condition of the field.

“We are very fortunate to have our indoor, but what I’ve always respected about our student-athletes and their families is that we work very hard to reach our goals with our blue collar approach,” said Pinkston. “This facility competes with the best college facilities in the country for softball. The thing that makes me most proud of the building is the message it sends for females. We are thankful to have leaders at Assumption and leaders in the community that stepped up in a big way to help us.”
