The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry will host the 38th annual Citywide Kwanzaa celebration on Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Catholic Enrichment Center, 3146 West Broadway.

Kwanzaa, which means “first fruits of the harvest” in the African language Kiswahili, is a seven-day festival celebrated Dec. 26 through Jan. 1. Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday, but is a celebration of family, community and culture.

At the heart of the celebration of Kwanzaa are the Nguzo Saba, The Seven Principles, one for each day of observance, according to the Office of Multicultural Ministry.
