Archbishop Kurtz pens booklet on blessing

bookletArchbishop Joseph E. Kurtz has co-authored a booklet on the Blessing of a Child in the Womb, a special blessing that originated with the archbishop.

“ ‘Gift of Joy’ explains the vocation of Christian mothers and fathers and how it relates to parish life and society as a whole,” according to a press release from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Archbishop Kurtz, vice president of the USCCB, wrote the booklet along with Monsignor J. Brian Bransfield, associate general secretary of the USCCB.

In the book, they explain that the blessing can be used in the context of Sunday Mass. And they note that children can help draw new parents into the life of the parish and their faith.

The booklet, published by Our Sunday Visitor, is available at the publisher’s website osv.com or by phone at 800-348-2440 ext. 2173.

The cost of the 32-page paperback book is $4.95.
