Ahead of the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby May 2, Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre joined in the preparations. He stopped by the Middletown Kroger, 12501 Shelbyville Rd., Friday evening to pin a few blooms on the garland of roses, which was draped over the winner of the Run for the Roses, Golden Tempo.

Fabre, joined by longtime friend Father Paul Counce from Louisiana, was instructed by Allison Gousha as to the precision of pinning a rose to the garland.
