Altar servers honored at prayer service

Photo Special to The Record

Fifty-nine altar servers from 33 parishes were honored at the Cathedral of the Assumption Oct. 6 during the first Young Servers Award prayer service sponsored by the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Vocation Office. The Vocation Office asked the area’s 110 parishes to nominate one or two servers in middle or high school, who “set a good example for all those present in the assembly.” The office intends to offer the recognition annually. Some of the servers are pictured above with the Vocation Office’s director Father Anthony Chandler, foreground right, and the archdiocese’s Vicar General Father Martin Linebach, foreground left.
