Migration and Refugee Services to hold ‘Mentor Volunteer’ training

CatholicCharitiessquareLogoCatholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services program will hold a “Mentor Volunteer” training and orientation session Feb. 19 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The training session will be held at the program’s main office at 2911 S. Fourth St.

Volunteers are asked to give a three- to six-month commitment to mentoring a refugee individual or family. Upon completion of training, the volunteer will help the refugee or refugee family enhance their English as a second language skills as well as act as a friend to the newcomers by introducing them to a variety of community resources, such as libraries, parks, museums and the like.
