Bellarmine University, 2001 Newburg Road, will host the Black Catholic Theological Symposium’s 24th annual meeting Oct. 3-6. It will begin wth a public lecture Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the university’s Frazier Hall.
The lecturer will be Dr. Diana Hayes, emerita professor of systemic theology at Georgetown University. She will discuss “Standing in the Shoes My Mother Made: The Making of a Catholic Womanist Theologian.”
The symposium will continue with prayer, reflection and scholarly dialogue related to the the black community and the church. The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry will host the symposium’s traditional listening session on Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. in the Catholic Enrichment Center, 3146 W. Broadway. The meeting will close with Mass at a local parish.
