Sr. of Loretto M. Karen Madden dies

Sister of Loretto M. Karen Madden, 90, died Jan. 24 at the Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx, Ky. She was in her 67th year of religious life.

Sister Madden was an administrative assistant for many years at the Colorado Catholic Conference and was a pastoral assistant at parishes in the Denver area and in Pueblo, Colo.

She was a native of Denver and attended school in the Denver area before joining the Sisters of Loretto in 1944. She worked as a counselor and social worker for Community Mental Health in Lebanon, Springfield and Bardstown, Ky., from 1970 to 1974.

She is survived by a brother, Father Edward Madden of Boulder, Colo.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 27 at the Church of the Seven Dolors on the Loretto Motherhouse grounds. Burial was in the Loretto Community Cemetery.
