Catholic Charities of Louisville’s Migration and Refugee Services is seeking volunteers for its Youth Mentoring Program.
This program is a 12-month commitment with weekly meetings. Mentors and mentees are expected to meet for at least two hours per week. Mentors — who need to be at least 21 years old — will need to pass a background check and attend Safe Environment and Trauma Informed Training sessions.
Volunteer mentors will be matched with a refugee between the ages of 9 and 17. Mentors will be trained to be positive role models and encourage academic achievement, a news release from the organization said.
“This program provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and personal growth for both the mentor and the mentee,” the release said.
