Walkathon total

Students and families of Holy Trinity School raised $46,365 at the school’s fourth annual walkathon Oct. 2.
The theme of the walk was “Walking Sole to Soul,” which reminds “students of the connection between our faith and the work we do to support others,” a news release from the school said.
The day’s events included a prayer from Holy Trinity pastor Father Mark Spalding, music from the St. Xavier High School Band and a motivational talk given by St. Xavier football coach Will Wolford.
The money raised will fund technology enhancements and other school improvements.

State champs

The Sacred Heart Academy golf team won its fourth consecutive state championship on Oct. 8. The team was honored at a school-wide assembly Oct. 9. Ryan Bender, Maddie Hamilton, Meredith Moir, Erin Rowland and Morgan Tinsley represented Sacred Heart in the state tournament at Bowling Green Country Club in Bowling Green, Ky.

Living rosary

Fifth-graders at Holy Trinity School hosted a living rosary on Oct. 7. Students led the parish and school in the sorrowful mysteries, which are prayed weekly at the parish on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Debate election

Raegan Davis and Rachel Finefrock, both juniors at Assumption High School, have been selected to serve on the National Speech and Debate Association’s Student Leadership Committee. Davis and Finefrock are the co-captains of the Assumption speech and debate team. The committee will help chart the direction of the national association, a news release from Assumption said.

Confidence boost

St. Raphael School eighth-grader Emily Slaven has created an effort called the Confidence Campaign to help instill confidence in other people. She is encouraging young people to write positive things about themselves by completing the hashtag, “#CallMe____.” Participants are encouraged to have a photo taken of themselves with their signs and email the photos to WeAreLouisville@gmail.com or post them on Instagram, tagging @We_Are_Louisville. Emily shared her idea at an anti-bullying event sponsored by the “Me to We” movement at Spalding University Sept. 29.
