Ursuline Sister Thomasita Hayes dies at age 83

Ursuline Sister Thomasita Hayes, 83, died Sept. 26 at Mercy Sacred Heart. Sister Hayes was born in Sharon, Miss., and entered the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville in 1950.
In Louisville, Sister Hayes taught at St. Ann and St. Rita schools and Sacred Heart and Ursuline academies. She also taught at St. Aloysius School in Shepherdsville, Ky. She also taught in Indiana and Maryland.

She is survived by three brothers Peter Hayes, Charles Hayes and Ben Hayes of Mississippi; a sister, Allie Avery of California; nieces and nephews; and members of her Ursuline community.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated today, Oct. 1, at the Ursuline Motherhouse Chapel with interment in St. Michael Cemetery.
