Talks concerning spectrum of life issues planned

There are a number of activities taking place around the Archdiocese of Louisville for Respect Life Month. A sampling of events follows:

 St. Patrick Church, 1000 N. Beckley Station Road, will hold a discussion on Family Life and Disabilities Oct. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jeff Wright, a teacher, husband and father, will serve as the evening’s keynote speaker. For more information, call the parish at 244-6083.

 St. Agnes Church, 1920 Newburg Road, will host “A Catholic Perspective: Understanding and Preparing for End of Life Decisions” Oct. 23 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Topics will include end of life ethics, advance directives, health care proxy, extraordinary vs. ordinary care and first-hand end of life experiences from the panel of experts, including Father Patrick Dolan. Reservations are encouraged by Oct. 18. To make a reservation, call the parish at 451-2220.

 St. Peter the Apostle Church, 5431 Johnsontown Road, will hold a dinner meeting called “Persecuted Christians & Refugee Crisis — Education, Prayer and Advocacy” Oct. 27. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

A 30-minute documentary  produced by the University of Notre Dame, available in English and Spanish, will be shown. Following the video, a small panel of people will provide comments on persecution and the refugee crisis.

The cost of the meal is $10 per person. Attendees must register and pre-pay. Call the parish office for more information at 937-5920.
