St. Mary Academy wins Quick Recall tournament

St. Mary Academy won the Catholic Schools Academic League’s Quick Recall tournament for fourth- and fifth-graders and finished with an undefeated season on March 13. The competition was held at Sacred Heart Model School.

In the semi-finals, St. Mary-Green defeated St. Agnes-Black 29 to 12 and St. Margaret Mary-Black defeated Holy Spirit-Red 23 to 15. Ultimately, St. Mary-Green defeated St. Margaret Mary-Black 29 to 10. The victors finished the season with an 11-0 record.

Members of the winning team are: Lily Boone, Garrett Brown, Anna McGreevy, Owen McGreevy, Tony Minatel, Lucas Nofsinger, Madelyn Peters, Jake Pratt and Nate Tencza. Diana Minatel is their coach.

The fourth- and fifth-grade league included 47 teams from 28 schools this year. The Catholic Schools Academic League, in its 24th year, coordinates Quick Recall matches during regular season and tournament play for schools in the Louisville area.
