St. Leonard students board the Polar Express

Father B.J. Breen, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, dressed as a conductor, interacted with preschool children at St. Leonard School, 440 Zorn Avenue, during a celebration of “Polar Express Day” Dec. 6.  Father Breen, a former pastor of St. Leonard Church, also read the book, “The Polar Express” for the preschoolers, who wore their pajamas to school that day. The students later met with their fifth-grade “buddies” who helped them make a craft related to the book. Students throughout the school also celebrated the feast day of St. Nicholas. Father Louis Meiman, pastor of St. Leonard, visited classrooms sharing candy and talking to students about the life of St. Nicholas. (Photo Special to The Record)
