Sister Miriam Louise Hauser, SCN, dies at age 87

SCNLogo-fSister of Charity of Nazareth Miriam Louise Hauser died at Nazareth Home on Sept. 14. She was 87 and had been a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth (SCN) for 61 years.

Sister Hauser, a native of Fort Thomas, Ky., served in elementary, secondary and collegiate education in Kentucky, Tennessee and Massachusetts for 19 years.

In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at Holy Family, St. Pius X and St.  Matthias schools and in the business office of Spalding College, now Spalding University. She also served in community service at the SCN Center and on the sisters’ Nazareth, Ky., campus from 1988 to 2010. In retirement, she served in the Apostolate of Prayer. She moved to Nazareth Home in June.

Sister Hauser is survived by two sisters, Martha Ann Hauser of Southgate, Ky., and Diane Hauser Ratliff of Alexandria, Ky., and by her religious community.                

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 20. Burial will follow in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Nazareth Home and after 4 p.m. at St. Vincent on Sept. 19. There will be a prayer service at St. Vincent at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
