Sister of Charity of Nazareth Margaret Riggs, 69, dies

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Margaret Riggs, 69, died April 15. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 34 years.

Sister Riggs, a native of Lebanon, Ky., served in pastoral ministry in Belize and the Diocese of Owensboro. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital for 18 years until her retirement in 2008.

She is survived by her sisters and brothers: Marinel Clark, Shirley Ann Hutchins, Patricia Bartley, James T. Riggs III, William T. Riggs, John M. Riggs, Ginger Ayers, Lois Edelen and Sara Ruley; and by members of her religious community.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky., at 10:30 a.m. April 19, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church April 18 and will be followed by a prayer service.
