Sister of Charity of Nazareth Ellen Miriam Grimes, 93, dies

SCNLogo2015Sister of Charity of Nazareth Ellen Miriam Grimes, 93, died July 10 at Nazareth Home. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 68 years.

Sister Grimes, a native of Louisville, served in elementary education as both a teacher and principal in Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee and Louisiana for 54 years. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she served at Holy Angels Academy from 1991-1994 and at St. Rita School from 1994-2004.

Following her retirement, she served in family ministry and in the Apostolate of Prayer.

Survivors include a niece, Janice Wise of Louisville, and members of her religious community.

Visitation will be July 13 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Nazareth Home and after 4 p.m. at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth, Ky. A prayer service will be held at St. Vincent at 6:30 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 14 at St. Vincent at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
