SHA senior selected as a top volunteer

SHA-fAnna-Maria Beck, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, was named Kentucky’s top high school youth volunteer of 2017 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.

Following a brain cancer diagnosis, Beck decided to help other young cancer patients by raising more than $24,000 for pediatric cancer treatment by holding bake sales. Beck’s first bake sale at her school raised $8,000.

Beck will receive $1,000, an engraved silver medal and a trip to Washington, D.C., in early May, where she will take part in four days of national recognition events.
