SHA senior honored in Washington, D.C.

sacredheartacademy-9.18.15-fAnna-Maria Beck, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, was honored at the 22nd annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards gala held May 8 at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

During the event, Beck received a $1,000 prize money and was congratulated by Olympic gold medalist and swimmer Michael Phelps.
Earlier in the year, Beck was named one of Kentucky’s top volunteers of 2017 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.

Following a brain cancer diagnosis, Beck decided to help other young cancer patients by raising more than $24,000 for pediatric cancer treatment by holding bake sales. Beck’s first bake sale at her school raised $8,000.
