Sacred Heart Schools to have $7 million in improvements

SHSLogo-5-7-15.CMYK-wSacred Heart Schools will soon undergo some renovations thanks to a $7 million investment approved by the board of trustees.

Sacred Heart Schools is comprised of Sacred Heart Academy, Sacred Heart Model School, Sacred Heart Preschool and Sacred Heart School for the Arts. According to a news release, all of the school buildings will be improved.

Work will start at the end of the present school year and is projected to be completed within the next two years.

Sacred Heart Academy and Sacred Heart Model School classrooms will be renovated. The upgrades to the classroom will be the “centerpiece of the project,” according to the statement from the school.

The project will also include renovation of the “common areas” of the two schools and of the academy’s library and cafeteria.

In addition, updates to security and fire safety systems will be made across the campus. Changes will also be made to ensure energy efficiency, and “various mechanical replacements and improvements” will be made to the infrastructure, the release said.

According to the release, Sacred Heart Schools “has entered into a long-term financing agreement” which means the project won’t require fundraising activities, “special assessments” or tuition increases.

“These campus improvements are part of our over-arching commitment to the community to ensure that Catholic education, the best way to connect faith, family and learning, is available to everyone who desires this life-changing experience,” said Lisa Steiner, chair of the board.

“Each of our students and their families will benefit from this new investment as we all seek to make the Sacred Heart experience one that truly lasts a lifetime.”
