The first and second place winners of the Archdiocese of Louisville District Spelling Bee high-fived after receiving their trophies at the Flaget Center Feb. 6. Carly Fawcett, right, an eighth-grader from St. Aloysius School, won the bee after 16 rounds. She also won the archdiocese’s district bee in 2017. Jack Corbett, a seventh-grader from St. Albert the Great School, was the runner-up. Fawcett will represent the archdiocese at the 2018 Kentucky Derby Festival Ford Motor Company Spelling Bee on March 17 at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
