Passionist Father Albert Schwer dies at age 86 at Nazareth Home

Passionist Father Albert Schwer, 86, died May 8 at Nazareth Home. He had been a priest for 59 years, and was a native of St. Louis, Mo., where he professed his Passionist vows in 1948. He was ordained a priest in 1955.

He served as a seminary professor, pastor, retreat center staff member and a member of local leadership teams and as an itinerant preacher.

He is survived by three sisters, Sisters of Christian Charity Rosemary and Marianne Schwer of Wilmette, Ill., and Agnes Svec of St. Louis; numerous other relatives and members of his Passionist community.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May 13 at St. Agnes Church, 1920 Newburg Road. Burial was in the Passionist Community Cemetery.
