Parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville collected $290,427 for the 62nd annual WHAS Crusade for Children. The Crusade collected a total of $5,674,721.
While fire departments in Kentucky and southern Indiana collect about 60 percent of the total donations, the Archdiocese of Louisville was the top non-fire donor, according to a press release from WHAS.
St. Michael Church was the top parish donor with $20,721 in donations. St. Martha Church was second with $15,737 and Holy Trinity Church in Louisville collected $12,500.
Outside Jefferson County, the highest parish donor was St. James Church in Elizabethtown, Ky., with a donation of $5,888. Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange, Ky., collected $5,602 and Holy Trinity Church in Fredericktown, Ky., collected $4,500.
The archdiocese’s cumulative donations over the years have now exceeded $7 million, the release said.
The Crusade was established in 1954 by WHAS-TV and “raises money for schools, agencies and hospitals that make life better for children with special needs” in Kentucky and southern Indiana, the release said.
