New group will discuss economic justice

The Sowers of Justice Network, a new collaboration of more than 30 local organizations and churches, including some Catholic churches, will hold a conference Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Central High School, 1130 W. Chestnut St. The subject will be “Community-wide Conversation on Economic Justice.”

Panelists will include Cathy Hinko of the Metropolitan Housing Coalition, Anthony Smith of the Network for Community Change, Attica Woodsen Scott, first district Metro Louisville councilwoman, and State Rep. Joni Jenkins. The conference also will include breakout sessions on a variety of topics — such as housing, employment, health care, hunger and other issues. The sessions are designed to help attendees meet one another, learn from one another, identify opportunities for action and plan for future action, according to a media release.

The event is free and open to the public, but participants are asked to register at www.sowersofjusticenetwork.org.
