Migrant and refugee youth event planned at the Muhammad Ali Center

“Growing Up Global: The Opportunities and Challenges of Migrants & Refugee Youth” is the title of a program which will take place at the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St., Feb. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will include the screening of two films about migrant and refugee youth, food and information tables, youth panels and discussion groups and a play area for kids.

Organizers said in a press release that the event will “examine youth migration issues at the international, national and local levels,” and that the youth who participate will have the opportunity to share their “perspectives and concerns and identify solutions.”

The event is open to the public. Entrance is free with the donation of items such as school supplies, personal hygiene items, diapers, cleaning and household supplies.

The event is sponsored by Catholic Charities along with the Muhammad Ali Institute of Peace and Justice at the University of Louisville and the Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
