Mercy Academy names Amy Elstone its principal

Mike Johnson, president of Mercy Academy, announced May 24 that Mercy alumna and assistant principal Amy Elstone, a 1994 Mercy graduate, has been named the 26th principal of Mercy Academy, effective July 1.

According to Johnson, “Amy comes to this new position with a record of excellence as a Mercy student, teacher, department chairperson and administrator. She has a deep commitment to the Mercy mission and more importantly, the well-being, growth and success of each and every student.  … We are confident that she will be an instructional leader who continues to move Mercy to the forefront as an academic institution and faith community.”

Elstone will replace current principal Julie Crone who has been at Mercy for 34 years. Crone has accepted the position of principal at St. Joseph School in Corydon, Ind.
