Mary Lee McCoy named principal of Sacred Heart Academy

Sacred Heart Academy has announced that Mary Lee McCoy, currently principal of DeSales High School, has been named principal of the all-girls’ high school on the Ursuline campus.

Dr. Beverly McAuliffe, who has served as principal of Sacred Heart Academy for 11 years, has been named the new principal of Holy Family School, 3934 Poplar Level Road.

The new positions were announced in a media release from Sacred Heart Schools.

Sacred Heart School’s president, Dr. Cynthia Crabtree, said in the release that McCoy “is a visionary leader committed to Catholic education and particularly to female education. Mrs. McCoy has a proven track record in education with strengths in curriculum development, organizational oversight and mission effectiveness.”

The academy’s new principal has served in Catholic education for more than 25 years. She has served as president and principal of Assumption High School and has worked at the national level within the Sisters of Mercy education network.

McCoy earned a bachelor’s degree in English education at the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in English education at the University of Louisville. She also earned administrative certification at Spalding University.

Her appointment at Sacred Heart will be effective July 1.
