Letter from the Archbishop

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

At Easter, we celebrate the central mystery of our faith: our redemption through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This Pascal Mystery is the foundation for our lives as Catholic Christians and is the good news that we are all called to share.

This “good news” is at the heart of our education and formation ministries. Because of the crucial role that these ministries play in the life of our Church, we dedicate the Easter Sunday Collection in all parishes to support the mission of the Catholic Education Foundation, Inc. Much of the proceeds of the collection will be used to award tuition assistance grants to many Catholic school families in need. This assistance benefits not only the recipients, but all school families by strengthening all of our schools financially. The balance will support the efforts of our parishes and schools to fund new initiatives in religious education, professional development opportunities for teachers and catechists, and technology upgrades.

Founded in 1997, the Catholic Education Foundation of Louisville is an independent organization that supports Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Over the years, the foundation has provided millions of dollars in grants to families, parishes, and schools in the vital areas of tuition assistance, religious education, and technology.

Please respond generously this Easter and help to support our local Church as we proclaim his glorious message of salvation in Jesus Christ!

Sincerely yours in our Lord,

Most Reverend
Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D.

Archbishop of Louisville
