Franciscan Kitchen needs volunteers to help cook, serve and clean

RecordLogo-FFranciscan Kitchen, a soup kitchen that serves about 500 people lunch each day —Monday through Friday and a few Saturdays a month — is in need of volunteers.

An announcement from the charity, established by Conventual Franciscan Friar Jim Fields, said, “In the spirit of St. Francis, we have been feeding the poor and homeless in Louisville, Ky., since 1980.”

The kitchen, located at 748 S. Preston Street in downtown Louisville, needs a variety of helpers — cooks, food preparers, servers, dishwashers and people to help cleanup. The charity also would appreciate donations.

Cooks and food preparers are needed between 6 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and the other positions are needed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
