Dominican Sister of Peace Jean Vianney Norris, 89, dies

Dominican Sister of Peace Jean Vianney Norris, 89, died Dec. 27 at Sansbury Care Center in St. Catharine, Ky. She had been a Dominican for 69 years.

Sister Norris, a native of Jamaica, N.Y., ministered in education in Kentucky, Illinois, New York and Massachusetts. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at St. Louis Bertrand and Sts. Simon and Jude schools.

In 2003, she moved to the St. Catharine Motherhouse and provided community service. She began a ministry of prayer at Sansbury Care Center in 2006.

She is survived by several nephews and one niece.

Visitation will be Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Jan. 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at the St. Catharine Motherhouse cemetery.
