Dominican Sister Catharine Smith dies at 90

Dominican Sister of Peace Catharine Martin Smith, 90, died on April 22 at Sansbury Care Center on the grounds of the St. Catharine Motherhouse in St. Catharine, Ky. She had been a religious for 60 years.

Sister Smith, a native of Malden, Mass., served as a teacher in Massachusetts, Illinois, Rhode Island and Kentucky. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Sts. Simon and Jude School. She also served in pastoral ministry, ministry to the elderly and in other community services in Massachusetts. She entered a prayer ministry in 2002 at Sansbury Care Center.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 26 at the Sansbury Care Center Chapel and burial was in the St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery.
