DeSales will hold annual awards dinner

DeSales High school will hold its 13th annual Hall of Honors Awards Dinner on Aug. 9 at the school, 425 Kenwood Drive.

The ceremony will include the induction of three into the DeSales Hall of Honors, which according to a press release from the school, represents the “category of highest esteem” established by the school in 1992.

“Members of the Hall of Honors have distinguished themselves through their outstanding professional accomplishments, strength of character, and/or personal commitment to the mission of DeSales High School,” the release said.

Doors will open for the event, presented by the school and Hilliard Lyons, at 6 p.m. and the dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

Three other annual awards will be presented at the dinner. They are the Outstanding Service Award, which recognizes an individual’s dedication to the school; the Young Alumnus Award, which recognizes a graduate younger than 30 years of age; and the President’s Award, which recognizes a current faculty member.

This year’s Hall of Honors inductees are:

  • T. Kevin Flanery, president of Churchill Downs Racetrack.
  •  James P. Hickey, a CPA with Dennis L. O’Brien, PSC.
  • Lucian Raque, owner of Prometric.
  • Gregory L. Miller Sr., a Desales alumni parent, has been named winner of the Outstanding Service Award. The Young Alumnus Award will be presented to Daniel B. Hendrickson, who graduated in 2004 and currently is director of space systems for the Aerospace Industries Association. And the President’s Award will be presented to DeSales business teacher William R. Moore.

Speaking at the dinner will be James R. Allen, CEO of Hilliard Lyons.
