Deacon Joseph Livers of St. Gregory dies at 70

Deacon Joseph Livers, 70, died Feb. 27 at Norton Hospital.

Deacon Livers, a native of Nelson County, Ky., was ordained a permanent deacon of the Archdiocese of Louisville in 1982. He also owned  and operated Livers Body Shop Inc. and Rhino Lining Central Kentucky.

He served at St. Gregory Church in Samuels, Ky., throughout his diaconate.

He is survived by his wife, the former Rita Osbourne of Bardstown, Ky.; daughter Jennifer Harris of Louisville; son, Jason (Jessica) Livers of Bardstown; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be today, March 2, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and March 3 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
