Collection supports education foundation

Dear Sisters and
Brothers in Christ,

At Easter, we celebrate the central mystery of our faith: our redemption through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This Paschal Mystery is the good news that we are all called to share, especially as we carry out the new evangelization by inviting Catholics to deepen their faith.

Our education and formation ministries serve as essential tools to carry out the new evangelization. Because of the crucial role that these ministries play in the life of our Church, we dedicate the Easter Sunday Collection in parishes to support the mission of the Catholic Education Foundation, Inc. Much of the proceeds of the Collection will be used to award tuition assistance grants to Catholic school families in need. This assistance benefits not only the recipients, but all school families as schools are strengthened financially. The balance will support efforts of our parishes and schools to fund new initiatives in religious education, professional development opportunities for teachers and catechists, and technology upgrades.

Founded in 1996, the Catholic Education Foundation of Louisville is an independent organization that supports Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Louisville. During the past 14 years, the Catholic Education Foundation has awarded more the $15 million in grants to families, parishes, and schools for the worthy purposes described above.

Please respond generously this Easter and help support the education and formation ministries of our local Church as we proclaim his glorious message of salvation in Jesus Christ!

Sincerely yours in our Lord,
Most Reverend
Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D.
Archbishop of Louisville
