Celebration of Our Lady of Cobre to be Sept. 9

The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry will celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Mercy of Cobre on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at St. Rita Church, 8709 Preston Highway. Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz will preside at the Mass.

Our Lady of Cobre, also known as Our Lady of Charity, was declared the patroness of Cuba by Pope Benedict XV in 1916 and solemnly crowned in the Eucharistic Congress held in Santiago de Cuba in 1936.
