Benedictine Sister Barbara Jean Luebbehusen, 66, dies

Luebbehusen-Barbara-Jean-wSister of St. Benedict Barbara Jean Luebbehusen, 66, died April 6 at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Ind. Sister Luebbehusen served as a teacher at Sacred Heart Model School.

Sister Luebbehusen, a native of St. Henry, Ind., entered the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand in 1967 and made her profession of monastic vows in 1969.

For the past 15 years, she served as a teacher at Sacred Heart Model School. She was also a baker in the monastery bakery. She previously served as a missionary and teacher in Peru and Guatemala. She was a clerical assistant to administration and technical services assistant at the monastery and a sales associate in the monastery gift shop.

She is survived by her sister, Clara Mae Boeglin of Ferdinand; nieces and nephews; and members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 9 in the monastery church followed by burial in the monastery cemetery.
