Archdiocese donated $50,000 to Catholic Home Missions Appeal

Parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville collected $50,000 for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal during the second collection held in April.

The appeal supports “home mission” dioceses, which are dioceses in the United States “that are unable to offer their people the basic pastoral ministries of word, worship, and service without outside help,” according to the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, which sponsored the appeal.

“It may also give grants to other dioceses in the U.S. for particular projects, and to organizations and religious communities engaged in missionary work.”

The mission focuses on evangelization; religious education; ministry training for priests, deacons, religious sisters and brothers and lay people; and support of parishes.
